Our Story

Like many American visitors to Saudi Arabia, I thought it would be funny to get a couple thobes tailor-made. While I enjoyed amusing the locals, the feeling of being wrapped in fabric, and an unexpected comfort in being covered in public, it was still restricting my movement. I couldn’t run, get up stairs quickly, or kick. So I went back to the tailor. This time I asked for a much shorter “thobe.” Shorter than a kurta (also known as a kameez or panjabi), with the clean, hidden button placket of a thobe and a hood. The Sauci tailor was thoroughly confused, but intrigued enough by my drawings to try it. Back in NYC, I got too many requests about where I got the custom hooded tunic not to make this design available.

May God bless your endeavors and make all your tasks easy for you.
